Who would have thought the zombie apocalypse in Valve’s Left 4 Dead would have been such a great source of unadulterated comedy?  View evidence number 1:

Oddly enough, I’m just the opposite.  Vests can suck it.  And what exactly was Valve’s intent with having Francis hate Ayn Rand?  A little developer inside joke/reference to Bioshock?

NSFW.  Really though, did you expect anything less from the Internet?  This sort of thing constitutes 85% of its output.

And finally, where would we be without a Rand ‘Macho Man’ Savage mod where his voice replaces the snarling of all the zombies?  You know what, I don’t what to even imagine a world like that!  It is simply too frightening to imagine.

Miller’s Brilliant 1 Second Ad January 30, 2009

Okay, maybe the ad isn’t exactly ingenious, but the marketing idea behind it is.  By now you’ve probably seen the Miller High Life ads for their… ad that’s running during the Super Bowl.  The special thing about this Super Bowl ad is that it’s going to last only 1 second.  That’s it.  The sneeze and miss it, grab another buffalo wing and miss it, the shorter than the transition between game and commercials sort of one second.  Whats brilliant about it is that it really is going to cost them a heck of a lot less than any of the other ads airing, but it will have (and already has) a lot more word of mouth, simply because it is so short (and cheap!).  1 Second ads aren’t ever going to become a strong component of cable advertising, but the novelty here is being used incredibly well by Miller.  And honestly, some of the example ads over at 1secondad.com are half bad.

Look at that screen shot from Starcraft II.  Just look at it!  It is something Starcraft fans have likely dreamed about, a folk tale told by generations of South Koreans.  I heard talk of Blizzard perhaps limiting player armies by population in the sequel the same way they did in the original, but this image from Big Download pretty much squashes that rumor.

And so, all the hard work of Dice is simply washed away.  Hours spent patiently trying to make detailed, lifelike, and fluid animations for the first person view are shattered after one look at Faiths awkward, broken robo walking.  I can see now why Dice was absolutely clear that no 3rd person view would be included in the game; it would have broken it.

Of course the game and all those mini-movies Valve puts out are hilarious, so maybe it shouldn’t be such a surprise that the fantastic multiplayer game’s blog is not only informative, but also incredibly funny.  Maybe they’re getting Eric Wolpaw to write their blog post as well as the scripts for the Portal series.  Seriously though, go read this blog post and get your daily dose of Predator related humor.
