I know it sounds very unlikely that their could be a “funny” story in the genre of rabid racists vs. African American priests.  It probably sound even less likely that it leads to the destruction of their little club o’ bigotry. Believe me when I say this is a heartwarming story about courage, love and triumph simply by turning the other cheek.

This is a video my friends and I made.  Since it was their class project, I pretty much was behind the camera the whole time.  We actually shot a lot more scenes, but they weren’t put in because they weren’t fit for a school project.  Someday we’ll release the “unrated” version.

the-infamous-micronation-of-sealand-close-up

These days, it doesn’t take much to make a country.  Pretty much anyone with 85-acres and a phenomenal command of press relations can create their own stamps, currency and constitution.  Oh, and also a ridiculous title, like President of the Republic of Molossi or Prime Minister of the Maritime Republic of Eastport.

The whole lot of these micronations aren’t even recignized by any governments of worth, meaning their true soverenty is in question.  But really, isn’t the idea of creating our own personal nation a dream we all share?

That’s a stent.  It lay between my left kidney and bladder in what’s called the ureter in order to help my body heal after my surgery. Getting it out is done the samy way you get it in. I’ll let you use your imagination to figure out how that’s done but here’s a hint: normally it’s a one way road.  Below I have some more gruesome pictures of the actual surgery.  FYI, these are from inside my body, so their is blood and fleshy things

! WARNING !

! BLOOD !

! GORE !

! OGAH BUGAH BOO !

I’m told they actually inflate this part of my body during surgery which creates all that empty space.

What you’re seeing in these pictures is the kidney (top), spleen (top left) and in the center, my Urethral Pelvic Injunction (aka, where the ureter meets the kidney).

Where Lightning Strikes Almost Year Round August 26, 2009

relampago-del-catatumbo

Relampago del Catatumbo is a spot in Venezuela where the Catatumbo River flows into Lake Maracaibo where lightning strikes 140 – 160 days a year.  This sometimes last for 10 hours straight  with 280 individual strikes occurring every hour.

Scientist don’t know what causes it (ionized methane gas mixing with storm clouds from the Andes perhaps?) but it’s been going on since at least 1595 when a poem titled The Dragontea by Lope de Vega was written about Sir Francis Darke and the lightning.  I only hope Hugo doesn’t figure out a way to harness these storms or we might just have a lightning cartel on our hands.
