That’s a stent.  It lay between my left kidney and bladder in what’s called the ureter in order to help my body heal after my surgery. Getting it out is done the samy way you get it in. I’ll let you use your imagination to figure out how that’s done but here’s a hint: normally it’s a one way road.  Below I have some more gruesome pictures of the actual surgery.  FYI, these are from inside my body, so their is blood and fleshy things

! WARNING !

! BLOOD !

! GORE !

! OGAH BUGAH BOO !

I’m told they actually inflate this part of my body during surgery which creates all that empty space.

What you’re seeing in these pictures is the kidney (top), spleen (top left) and in the center, my Urethral Pelvic Injunction (aka, where the ureter meets the kidney).

By the time this post has gone up I’m likely to have completed or be in robotic Laparoscopic surgery for an obstruction in my uretero-pelvic junction.  I’m guessing it’s going to look something like that picture above.

In all seriousness, this surgery isn’t life threatening, just a correction of a vestigial problem.  My doctor is experienced and the surgery has a very high rate of success, so I’m not too worried.  If you’d like to know more about real robotic Laparoscopic surgery, I suggest you watch this facsinating TED documentary about the history and future of surgery.

That title just about covers it. I’m trying to do atleast one post a day for a year but today I’m helping a friend shoot a sitcom pilot so this is all I can manage to post from my iPod Touch. Hugs and kisses.
