Google’s News Timeline Sure Is Nifty

The other day I needed a certain type of article for my Journalism class.  It needed to be about Catholics and politics, preferably about a presidential election.  I eventually found an article the satisfied those requirements, but not without some trouble.  It would have been a heck of a lot easier if I had just known about Google’s new News Timeline.

News Timeline is a visual news catalog, sortable by time frames and subject.  Finding stories about Catholics from September to November of 2008 is a cinch using the website.  Pictures, videos and even Time Magazine covers are thrown in the slick yet utilitarian presentation.

On the opposite end of news visualizers is MSNBC’s incredibly cool looking but not exactly useful Spectra.
